Growing up in Southeast London during an era dominated by 80s Soul, 90’s R&B, House, Hip Hop, and Sound system culture, Venus was deeply influenced by the vibrant world of black music. The event’s she attended with Disc Jockeys blending the heaviest tunes, pumping basslines and rhythms that lifted spirits in marginalized communities, helped to shape her desire to not only perform and make music, but also foster the versatile DJing style she’s loved for fusing her African-Caribbean heritage with London raised influence.
